The Junior Alphamen is a young men's leadership development organization sponsored by the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Indianapolis alumni chapter, Iota Lambda, has been active in the local community since 1922.
Since its founding on December 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African-Americans and people of color around the world.
Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descendants in this country.Among our special youth programs is the Male Enhancement Mentoring Implementation Model focused on developing talented, capable young men into leaders of men who serve others through their leadership and commitment to community. The Junior Alphamen program is the execution of this model and the group meets once each month under the supervision and guidance of Alpha Brothers who serve as presenters, teachers, and mentors of lessons in leadership. Junior Alphamen membership is open to any minority male student in grades 8 through 12 within the metropolitan Indianapolis area.
A Male Enhancement Mentoring Implementation Model
The Male Enhancement Mentoring Implementation Model refines our National Programs by specifying developmental areas that should be focused on as programs are being planned and implemented. The areas identified take into consideration the socioeconomic and political changes that have occurred in the world since the inception of our programmatic focus during the 1920's-30's. The areas of development and their elements are:
